We are in the last stretch of writing the Southside Quality of Life Plan! Over the last several months, crowded into school cafeterias, gymnasiums and classrooms, Southsiders have identified several key visions including fostering healthy and beautiful commercial corridors with a strong small business sector; encouraging thriving households through a diversity of housing options, trades education, and access to healthy food options; and, building stronger relationships among Southside neighborhoods, churches, businesses, and other institutions.
At last month’s Action Team meeting, over 100 people joined community partners for Q&A panels. Thank you to all our partners (listed below). We had some very productive conversations about goals, feasibility, new opportunities, and the future of the Southside.
We also opened up an opportunity to vote on the design and logo of the Southside Quality of Life Plan! Our philosophy is your community, your choice. The Southside deserves a logo and plan design that represents the community. Over 100 people have participated in voting through our online survey (closes July 6!) or in person at our Action Team meeting, the Garfield Park Farmer’s Market or the Garfield Park Public Library Branch. At the July 26 meeting, look for some logo options based on your feedback!
Until next time!
